Water Mint
Date & place: 21st August, next to a stream in Moygownagh. It is a perennial flowering plant that grows in damp places and is native to Europe, northwest Africa and southwest India.
Purple Loosestrife
Date & place: 21st August, Moygownagh. A perennial plant that grows in ditches, river banks, canals and marshes. Flowers from June to September.
Hawkbit
Date & place: 28th August, Kilfian (home). Often mistaken for dandelion, even though it’s much smaller. Flowers from July to October and prefers acidic soil and dry grassland.
Snowberry
Date & place: 27th August, Killala. Introduced from North America; pink flowers June–September and white berries in autumn, used by the death’s head hawkmoth, pheasants and grouse.
Redshank
Date & place: 21st August, Kilfian. An annual in the buckwheat family. Common across Eurasia and introduced as an invasive in North America.
